    11 miles in 3 days

Well, in the last 3 days I have done 11 miles on my bike. 2 miles Saturday morning, 5 miles on Sunday. I got up at 6:30am and went riding for about an hour doing 4 miles. Then came home got myself and children ready for church. My dh drove the van and me and my son Josiah rode our bikes to church. Today I went riding about 7pm for just under an hour doing another 4 miles. The trails here have mile markers which helps me track how much I am riding.

Love it and pray its toning my body up..

    Health Benefits of Bicycle Riding...

I loved riding my bike as a kid. We would ride all around town and back and forth to school. After school we got together to ride bicycle and talk about what happened at school, our worries, our dreams. Bike riding kept us healthy, busy and happy. As an adult I realize bike riding offers many benefits for the body, as well as for the spirit. Now that I am in my 40's I started again to enjoy it. One of the things the doctor ordered was exercise to be in better health condition.

Bicycling is a good cardiovascular exercise that could increase the health of your heart. A bike with several speeds will allow you to increase you fitness level as your cardiovascular function improves. Begin by riding at an easy speed over even ground. If what you want is a challenge change your terrain.

Bicycling is kind to the joints. As we get older we experience Joint pain especially in the knees as they Osteoporosis causes joint problems to worsen because of the lack of proper calcium levels in the bones. Bike riding offers exercise without pain. The aerobic benefit is comparable to jogging or running without the strain. Check that the seat height on your bike is adjusted to allow your legs full range of motion with each revolution. Full range of motion also promotes better circulation to the lower extremities which do the majority of the work in moving the bicycle.

Bicycling whips those leg muscles into shape. For muscular endurance, stick to a flat terrain, but adjust the speed of the bike as your strength improves. To avoid cramping, stretch thoroughly before and after each bike ride.

Bicycling increases your balance. Learning to ride a bike is all about staying upright. To do that, you have to find a balance between your body and the bike. Maintaining that balance strengthens the core muscles of the abdominal region. Tightening the core muscles keeps you from falling off of the bike. The lower abdominals pull your legs back towards you body from the bottom of the cycling revolution. The lower back is also kept pain free by a strong balanced core.

It's also great way to release your stress from daily work either if you work at home or have a regular job. You can do it inside the house with an exercise bike, but also you can take your bike out and enjoy nature. Families, friends, can share the experience which can help you be together and give the opportunity to communicate with each other. I believe that we as families, friends, have to look for common grounds to share with each other as we do with friends. Feeling good with yourself and with your loved ones, is one of the greatest benefits you can get from this exercise.

This morning I got up about 6:45am and headed out with my oldest for my first bike ride.

I rode 2 miles. Boy, do my legs hurt. That may not seem like a lot but for someone who hasn't been riding a bike for over 10 years thats pretty good to my way of thinking. And with the burn I would say I did good!

. I have to work up to longer distances and work on strengthening my legs. Slow but sure..

Going to get up again early tomorrow morning and bike ride before church.

    WOW! It was fun!

Tonite we all decided to take another walk. We have one bike which belongs to my two oldest boys 12 & 13. I decided that I wanted to ride the bike which I haven't done in probably more than 10 years. It was so much fun!

I rode the bike and walked. After walking for a bit I decided to leave the kiddos with my dh and head back home on the bike.  I rode home and only stopped to rest if I had to cross the street. It was exhilarating!! The speed, the wind in my hair and just being alone! I enjoyed it more than I can say!

So my new love is bicycle riding! The seat really hurt though on this bike. So we're going to buy another more comfortable one. And I got a great workout. I could feel my body heating up and my heart beating really fast. My legs burning and my face turning red! I LOVED it!

Again who knew fitness could be so fun!!

We're looking for cheap bikes for our whole family. I hope we find some soon. I am glad my boys are willing to share their's with me until then!

Okay so I haven't gotten to the fitness center to work out. I have just been so tired the last two days. I am going to bed too late and not getting enough sleep. Planning on going to bed earlier tonite.

So I didn't walk Tuesday or Wednesday but I started again tonite. I can't believe how fast my body goes back to no fitness mode..walking two miles tonight was SUPER hard but I did it. I am going to try over a period of the next few weeks to work up to 4 miles.

I actually prefer to walk outside so I am going to do that when I can and then walk inside with Leslie Sansone when I can't get outside.

    I am tired...whew!!

Well last night I did the one mile jog although I had to stop and fast walk a few times so I didn't die! Jogging is also hard when you have larger breasts. I like it but it may be better for me to walk..

Tonite all 11 of us went on a walk on the trails. I wore both my pedometers One tracking the miles and one tracking my steps. I got in more than the recommended 10,000 steps perday. My walk was 2.56 miles and thats speed walking! It feels so good to be working towards fitness! My body thanks me!!

I also have discovered that there is a free fitness center here in our little city that I can use. I am hoping to go work out on Monday & Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. This week I will start working out there on Thursday evening and then Sat. morning. I am so excited about this!

I want to be as healthy as I can!
I also went back to my ww points today! So far I ahve used 18 today...have 11 left..

    I LOVE fitness!!

    10,000 steps!

The recommended amount of steps each day is 10,000. That seems like alot but today I discovered that two miles is about 7,000 steps so walking 4-5 miles each day gets you to the mark.

I bought a pedometer and when my family and I went on a walk for about 2 hours today I got in 7,513 steps. Then I went to Walmart and got up to about 8,000. So I am already close to hitting 10,000 steps.

Tonite my dd and I are going to do the one mile jog by Leslie Sansone!

Who ever thought fitness could be so much fun??!!!
